Big Thank You to John Bowman for getting Bull Market Toys to help sponsor the team. John has been working with them since May 16th and finally secured the deal. Go "Like" Bull Market Toys on Facebook and while you are on Facebook "Like" the team Riders for Hope page as well! I would like to transition all info and team related items to Facebook by the end of June so if you have been holding out getting on the Facebook it's time!
Again Thanks John!

Just heard this from Ed at Bikeworks
I just heard about an unfortunate incident in Lansdale, PA where a cyclist was attacked and injured by an unknown assailant with a bat. There were no witnesses and police have no leads.
Hey Team! Happy Bike Month. I hope this blog finds everyone well. I apologize for my absence. It's been very crazy the last few weeks since it's soccer season. All 3 kids are involved and I'm assistant coach when they need me. I'm hoping to get some weekend rides in with everyone shortly. It will probably have to happen on Sunday morning until middle of June. I know everyone rides at different levels so I want to make sure you all can benefit with the rides.
I'm thinking of mixing it up a bit with having some flat riding on Schuylkill Trail and also some road rides with hills. We can meet up and ride the roads the Challenge will be on.
Keep Recruiting Team Members and Bringing in the Donations! We are doing great!
I do want to stress contacting our bike sponsor Bikeworks and scheduling a bike fitting especially if you are experiencing numbness or sore areas. Also if you are not a regular rider get yourself a GOOD pair of riding shorts/bibs. We get 10% off all accessories at Bikeworks. Take advantage of it.
May 14th As cyclists we wear different jerseys, ride with different teams, groups, shops or clubs however one thing doesn't change - we are a community who love and share the same passion. This Saturday, no matter where you are or who you ride with why not wear a black armband as a sign of your support and a showing of our strength and unity as a cycling community who together mourn the tragic passing of Wouter Weylandt of the Leopard Trek team and local Australian youngster, Shamus Liptrot both talented cyclists no longer with us. May they rest in peace.
| May 18, 2011, at 7:00 p.m., the Ride of Silence will begin in North America and roll across the globe. Cyclists will take to the roads in a silent procession to honor cyclists who have been killed or injured while cycling on public roadways. Although cyclists have a legal right to share the road with motorists, the motoring public often isn’t aware of these rights, and sometimes not aware of the cyclists themselves. The ride of Silence is a free ride that asks its cyclists to ride no faster than 12mph and remain silent during the ride. There are no sponsors and no registration fees. The ride, which is held during National Bike Month, aims to raise the awareness of motorists, police and city officials that cyclists have a legal right to the public roadways. The ride is also a chance to show respect for those who have been killed or injured.
slow-paced ride. For more info, go to www.rideofsilence.org |
Just want to thanks Amy Moyer (Ava's Angels) for getting sponsorship with her company Allied Wire and Cable. Just remember get your friends and family to be part of this unforgettable experience in August. Don't forget to ask your companies/businesses about sponsorship. You have until May 15th to get them on board.
Remember company checks can be written out to Riders for Hope. Without sponsorship donations we wouldn't be able to get jerseys, dri-fit shirts, t-shirts, bottles, banners or other misc items. Keep them coming!!! Thanks to All. Rides will be coming soon with weather getting nice finally. Also this Saturday is RFH/LIVESTRONG Day at Harleysville SUBWAY come get your foot long.....you have to eat!
So this last weekend was a success at Bikeworks Carnival and I would like to extend a big thank to Ed, Jason, and gang there for letting us setup shop. Also a big thanks to Chad and those who offered to sit until I got there. It was a crazy day with opening day of my kids soccer.
This weekend April 16th is RFH/LIVESTRONG SUBWAY day in Harleysville. So here is where the I need your help again. Being assistant coach for my youngest ones soccer team I won't be able to be at Subway at the start. So I was hoping one of you wonderful team members wouldn't mind sitting down at Subway and hand out information and greet people that come in to Subway. Pretty simple! I'll be down as soon as we WIN of soccer game...haha optimism there ;)
So please let me know and if you are able too I meet up with you and give you the stuff to put out. Not sure how the weather will be so if it rains I'll be there. But if its nice I'm not sure if we have to setup inside or outside. We can find all that out.
Again please let me know and I apologize for this happening again.
Thank you for the help!
Pepboys made us our banner for the Bikeworks Carnival so a big thanks to them!
Also on another note just wanted to wish Amy Moyer a belated birthday from the team!
Last but not least...to John Bowman (Chester) good luck on his first Tri this coming weekend.
